Clever Culture Systems was created as a joint venture. Matching clinical technology expertise with hardware development to drive the commercial development and distribution of the APAS Independence. With a team experienced in medical science, drug and diagnostic product development and pathology, Clever Culture Systems aims to deliver products that meet real needs and make a real difference to microbiology laboratories around the world.

The Team


Clever Culture Systems was established in 2013 as a joint venture of LBT Innovations and Hettich Holding Beteiligungs- und Verwaltungs-GmbH (Hettich) in Germany. Both companies play a key role in the commercialisation of the APAS Independence and driving new opportunities for the application of the APAS technology.

Peter Bradley has over 30 years’ experience in medical science and drug and diagnostic product development, and the commercialisation expertise to get innovations to market. With a career spanning laboratory medicine, the pharmaceutical industry, biotechnology and consulting, he has broad experience in business development, research management, technology commercialisation, and sales and marketing. Peter was most recently Managing Director of Qatalyst BioConsulting, offering strategic and business development advice to biotech companies in Australia and New Zealand, and regional assistance to US-based companies. He previously served as Managing Director of KODE Biotech and as Head of Product Development and Regulatory Affairs at CSL Limited’s Bioscience Division, where he helped to secure significant licensing deals for Australia’s largest biopharmaceutical firm.

LBT has several products in development, including WoundVue™, a proposed automation solution to assist in the management of chronic wounds.

Hettich Holding Beteiligungs- und Verwaltungs-GmbH located in Germany. The company is widely recognised for the introduction of the first microprocessor controlled and robotically integrated centrifuges and is today one of the world’s most successful manufacturers of automated laboratory equipment. The company is well known for its outstanding customer service and know-how around automated laboratory equipment. The flagship products of Hettich are the centrifuges which have been sold worldwide for many years.
